Opening in August in University Research Park, the free public school will offer a curriculum created by Cato College of Education faculty.
Niner University Elementary will open with 150 students in grades K-2 and over the next three years grow to offer grades K-5. The school will be located in a renovated and secured wing of James Martin Middle School, at 6301 University Pointe Blvd.
Niner University Elementary’s program is intended to support students from high-needs, low-performing schools and improve educational outcomes while employing research-based teaching methods.

“Partners from across the UNC Charlotte campus have collaborated throughout the year to develop a mission to guide and support the work at Niner University Elementary. I am excited to recruit students and teachers as we prepare for a phenomenal first year,” said Pamela Broome, principal of NUE.
