Race2Educate 2018University City’s annual 5K for our Kids was a big success again this year, reports Rob Rogers with University City Connect.

“It was an outpouring of support from our local community and an incredible expression of encouragement to our young students,” Rob said.

About 850 people took part in the 5K and Fun Run on April 14 at Nathaniel Alexander Elementary School in the Governors Village. Runners and community partnerships raised $43,000 to give to local schools.

“Of that amount, $35,000 was donated by our local community influence centers where 10 Vance High School students received college scholarship money of between $1,500 and $6,000 each,” Rob says.

Race2Educate is part of a nine-race series taking place this year in University City, under the umbrella name of the Healthy UCity Race Series. Learn more about both at healthyucity.org.
