With two early colleges for high-school students now operating at UNC Charlotte, the university has begun seeking money to build a permanent building on campus, The Charlotte Observer reports. Charlotte Teacher Early College welcomed its first class of 50 students on Aug. 7. The Charlotte Engineering Early College enters its fourth year of operation.
The new Teacher Early College is housed in the Cato College of Education Building, while the Engineering Early College meets in a temporary facility at 9000 Robert Snyder Road, near the JW Clay Boulevard entrance to campus from North Tryon Street.
Both early colleges are part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and provide specialized programs for high-school students with a strong interest in either education or engineering. (more…)
