April 6 was a great day for University City schools and scholars, thanks to the Race2Educate 5K and its many sponsors.
Nearly 900 adults and youth competed for pride and awards, but the day’s biggest winners were the nine Vance High students who received Race2Educate community scholarships totaling $40,000.
“It was inspiring to see our community show up in force to support our schools, the students, administrators and families,” said Rob Rogers, who birthed the annual event as a way to draw business and community support for University City public schools.
A total of 34 students have now received scholarships since Race2Educate began in 2013. (more…)
