Vance High School in the Governors Village has many talented students who could really fly with help from its community … Us.
University City Connect recently talked with school leaders about specific needs right now. Here are some of the biggest ones, plus the people to contact if your heart encourages you to act.
Thanks in advance for helping our students soar!
Vance has numerous students, both male and female, who would benefit from having a mentor. We have seen great success when students are paired with a mentor who is willing to invest their time and share their wisdom and experiences through creating a meaningful relationship with our students who need it the most.
This can sometimes be challenging need, but one of the greatest needs that our school has and the most rewarding for both student and mentor.

Winter coats and gloves
The families of many Vance High students have difficulty affording winter coats and accessories.
Early-morning temperatures at school bus stops will soon drop below freezing. Supplying coats and accessories for our students will help fulfill a basic need so that our students can focus on what really matters when they are at school – their academics.

We would love support in creating a data base that includes contact information for all Vance alumni.
We are hoping to get the word out via newspaper, internet, radio, tv or blimp 🙂 Our first class will be celebrating their 20th year reunion and we don’t want to miss anyone!
